When we take the focus off of us and do our best to help alleviate the struggle of another, we are becoming more like Jesus.
Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works

Time to Stir Up Love and Good Works

In My Utmost for His Highest Oswald Chambers says, : When we come up against struggle, we have the tendency [to become] spiritually lazy. We use god for the purpose of finding a quiet retreat…only for the sake of getting peace and joy..for ourselves. We seek only our enjoyment of Jesus Christ, not a true realization of him.

As we serve each day at Feeding Hands, we have the chance to have a true realization of Him when we approach our service from the right perspective. When we take the focus off of us and do our best to help alleviate the struggle of another, we are becoming more like Jesus. According to Jesus’ own words in Matthew 25, when we feed the least of these, we feed Him. In other words, we get a true realization of his heart for us when we serve those who are struggling from the effects of sin and injustice in this natural world. When we serve them, He says, we are recognizing or realizing more of who He is. He loves the poor and wants us to be like him, sacrificially reaching outside of ourselves to love others as we love Him and as He loves us.

We have our largest event coming up on November 17th. Feeding Hands Thanksgiving Food Distribution reaches hundreds of our guest families in one day. We will need more than 150 volunteers to make this happen for our guests. But this gives us an opportunity to reach out to our friends and family…those who know Christ and those who don’t, those who are spiritually alive, and many of those who are just like us at any given time of the day, who love Him but are spiritually lazy and stir up love and good works. Isn’t this what we need more of in this world today?
